Ironbark Gallery Exhibits Beyond Sight: Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger

For immediate release

8 February 2021

Strathfield Council is excited to announce the Ironbark Gallery’s first exhibition for 2021, featuring artworks by Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger, which will be open to members of the public from 19 February to 18 April.

Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger explores the world of plants and evolution through an exhibition of photographs, video and sculpture in her exhibition Beyond Sight.

Using the microscopic image Lea examines the connections between art and science, creating awareness surrounding the alterations we make in nature to transform the flora and social, ethical, and cultural values in society.

When asked where Lea draws her inspiration from, “it is what we are doing and not doing to our fragile planet. We are in this Anthropogenic epoch where all the actions of humanity right now will echo across time.”

“We sit on a precipice as though waiting for someone else to solve our problems when we must acknowledge that these are problems of our own making and it will fall to all of us to make personal sacrifices to make a difference and hopefully save this world as we know it.”

Beyond Sight is an exhibition that initiates a dialogue surrounding climate change, the Anthropocene and the evolutionary impact this time will have on life on this planet.

The exhibition runs from 19 February through to 18 April at the Ironbark Gallery located within the Strathfield Council Library & Innovation Hub, 65 – 67 Rochester Street, Homebush.
