HSC Art Exhibition Winners Announced

Today Strathfield Council announced the winners of the 2017 HSC Art Exhibition as follows:

Best in Exhibition: Leila Melhem – Moments (Australian International Academy

Winner of Best in Exhibition’s School:

Runner Up: Salma Eddie – Aleppo (Strathfield Girls High School)

Best Painting: Gabrielle Hong – Untitled (Strathfield Girls High School)

Mixed Media (joint media): Sara Nicholas – Ode to David (Strathfield South High School) and Sumaya Abdikani – Breaking Glass Ceilings (Australian International Academy)

Year 11 Encouragement Award: Duaa Anwar – Beauty of Islam (Australian International Academy)

Arts Dreaming Bundanon: Nepean Creative and Performing Arts

Primary School Encouragement Award: Kelly Lee (PLC Presbyterian Ladies College)

The exhibition features a number of artworks from talented school students in the Strathfield area and guest exhibitors from Nepean Creative and Performing Arts School. This year, 78 works were entered in the exhibition, including works sent from Strathfield Council’s Sister City, Gapyeong County in Korea.

The People’s Choice Award is yet to be decided; Council invite all residents to visit the exhibition and vote for their favourite artwork for a chance to win a gift voucher.

The works will be on show at a free exhibition in the Strathfield Town Hall between 30 November and 5 December.

This year’s event sponsors include Bendigo Bank, Eckersley’s Art and Craft, Pancakes on the Rocks, Morning Glory, Westfield Burwood and Outback Steakhouse
