Homebush Village Smoke Free Zone

For immediate release

18 August 2021

The CEO of Strathfield Council has designated Homebush Village Town Centre as a smoke free zone, allowing residents to breathe easier whilst making their purchases in the heart of Homebush.

Safety is at the forefront of this decision, which was made in support of community health and to assist with the reduction of litter.

The smoke free zone at Homebush Village Town Centre is effective immediately, with relevant signage installed and community notification taking place.

The smoke free area will encompass the shopping precinct located along Rochester Street, The Crescent and Burlington Road.

Council will focus their efforts on community education prior to Rangers enforcing the smoking ban.

Homebush Village Town Centre is the third smoke free zone within the Strathfield LGA, as Strathfield Town Centre and Homebush West Shopping Precinct were introduced as smoke free zones by Council previously. Compliance has steadily increased due to an extensive education campaign and change in the behaviour of the local community.
