The Companion Card allows people with a significant and permanent disability, who require attendant care for the rest of their lives, to participate in community activities and events without discrimination.

People with a disability who require a carer, often need to pay for themselves and a companion to attend an activity, event or performance. This can make outings very expensive. However, if a disabled person holds a Companion Card, the carer can attend events, activities or performances for free, if the event is hosted by a Companion Card affiliate.

For more information or to apply for a companion card, see, call 1800 893 044 or email:

Strathfield Council is a companion card affiliate

Strathfield Council recognises that it can be expensive for those with a disability to pay for themselves and a companion. Therefore Council agrees to issue a second entry ticket at no charge to Companion Card holders.

Companion Card holders are eligible to use the card at any event where Council charges an entry fee eg Tai Chi, Gentle Exercise etc.

In addition, Council has resolved to encourage hirers of Council facilities to support/accept the Companion Card.
