Community Access Advisory Committee

Call for representatives

Council is inviting applications from community members to be representatives on its Community Access Advisory Committee.

Are you passionate about making Strathfield a place that everyone can easily and safely access and move around? Then we'd like to hear from you!

Strathfield Council is convening a new internal Community Access Committee  which will advise the General Manager on universal issues of access and inclusion for our community. It will provide a forum for structured dialogue and discussion in regards to access and inclusion and will be an advisory sub-committee of the Council. Whilst the primary focus for the Committee will be on disability, good access for those with a disability will mean good access for all residents and visitors to our LGA.

Appointment to the Committee for Community Members will be for a period of twelve months. Subsequent terms may be sought by lodgement of Expression of Interest.

The Committee will meet 4 times each year from the commencement of 2019.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following selection criteria:

  1. Connection to the Strathfield LGA and experience with or interest in disability on a personal or professional level
  2. Experience and knowledge in providing strategic policy advice
  3. Experience in working actively within the community and willingness to actively contribute to the delivery of Council's strategies for social inclusion and access
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the barriers to independent and equitable access for people with a disability.

To be considered for committee membership, please complete the membership form.  The Terms of Reference for the Community Access Committee are available on this website and Council’s Community Access Plan 2015-2019 is also available.
