August 25 – Countdown to Strathfield Spring Festival

The Strathfield Spring Festival is coming to Strathfield and is an event not to be missed for young and old.

Hosted by Strathfield Council, the Spring Festival has been revamped for 2011 to a two day festival on September 10 and 11 featuring headline entertainment, cultural displays, carnival rides, a huge selection of food and market stalls, fireworks, a giant outdoor movie and lots of fun activities for all ages.

Saturday’s festival will celebrate the cultures of Strathfield from 1pm with local schools participating in a kite festival, lantern parade and with nightfall, Bollywood dancers will be set-off by fireworks and a giant outdoor Bollywood movie screening.

Australia’s Got Talent winners Justice Crew will headline the main stage entertainment on Sunday for the traditional festival day which starts at 10am. They will be joined by Japanese drumming sensation TaikOz, the musical talents of Sweetmojo, Natalie Colavito and a full day of live performances.

A dedicated Kidz World will have the children entertained for hours with performers, rides, animals and lots of activities. The Sports Quarter will feature martial arts stage demonstrations from taekwondo, tai chi, gumdo, judo, hapkido, karate and more. All appetites will be catered for with lots of food stalls providing a variety of tastes of Europe and Asia as well as the traditional festival food options.

Mayor of Strathfield, Cr Tony Maroun said this year’s festival is aiming to reach all new heights.

“The Strathfield Spring Festival is a well established community event, and this year, by celebrating cultures and adding more features to the event, we’re expecting the Festival to attract a huge crowd. There will be something for everyone to enjoy,” he said.

The glorious surrounds of Strathfield Park will come alive at the Strathfield Spring Festival. Free street parking available, or get the free shuttle bus from Strathfield Station.
