August 23 – Strathfield Council to officially open new playground at Austin Park

23 August 2013

Strathfield Council has completed work on a new playground and will hold an official opening at Austin Park, located in Homebush West on Saturday 31 August.

Council is committed to providing outdoor facilities to support recreational and community activities in the Strathfield local government area. Austin Park is located in an area of increasing growth, and was identified as a location where new playground facilities would better meet the needs of residents in the area.

The upgrade includes a new multi-unit climbing piece, flying fox, basket swing, animal rockers, a see saw and sensory panels. The playground is designed to cater for a wide range of age groups.

Cr Gulian Vaccari, Mayor of Strathfield, said that it is important that families in the area have access to high quality playground facilities.

“Parks and playgrounds are a key part of local neighbourhoods and Council takes pride in providing these facilities to the community,” Cr Vaccari said.

“I hope many families in the local area will benefit from these facilities and enjoy the new playground for many years to come.”

The official opening of the new playground will be held on Saturday 31 August 31 with children’s activities and a barbecue lunch.
