Strathfield Council, at its meeting of 1 April 2014, resolved the following, regarding the report received concerning Comfort Women:

1. That Council note the report and petitions received concerning ‘Comfort Women’.
2. That this matter be referred to the State and Federal Governments to obtain their position on this matter.
3. That Council, as per its Community Strategic Plan, which upholds its strategy of strong community consultation and inclusiveness, consider the matter following receipt of position statements from the State and Federal Governments.

Voting on this item was unanimous. (Cr Ok did not discuss this matter, due to a declared interest).

The above resolution provides Council’s official position on this matter.
