Mobile Phones
Mobilemuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry. Strathfield Council is proud to support this initiative of diverting the disposal of old mobile phones from landfill.
There are more than 3,500 collection points through out Australia including –
- Mobile phone retailers – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, 3 Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Crazy Johns, Fone Zone, Allphones, Dick Smiths and Harvey Norman
- Nokia Care and Motorola One Service Centres

MobileMuster accepts all brands of mobile phones, plus their batteries, chargers and accessories. Everything collected is recycled to the highest environmental standard for resource recovery. Deleting or removing any data from your SIM card or mobile phone is encouraged, although any data left on the device is destroyed in the recycling process.

Medicines
Strathfield Council supports the Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Project funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing.
Residents can take all unwanted and out of date medicines to your local pharmacy anytime.

Motor Oil
Strathfield Council has installed a Waste Oil Recycling Facility at the Council depot located at 1 Weeroona Rd (off Centenary Drive).
This facility is open from Tuesday to Friday between 9 am and 12 noon by appointment only. To make an appointment please contact Council’s Depot Coordinator on 9748 9970.
Please note –
- Only waste motor oil will be accepted
- Residents must bring proof of residence
- All visitors to the depot must report to the Depot Coordinator
- All visitors must observe and abide by all signage and follow instructions from Council staff on safety matters
- Oils must be presented in 5L – 10L jerry can (maximum drop off amount is 20L).
