At its ordinary meeting on Tuesday 29 September 2026, Council elected Councillor Sandy Reddy as Mayor and Councillor Esther Kim as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of this Mayoral term ending in September 2028, and Deputy Mayoral term ending in September 2027.
Councillor Reddy said serving the community as Mayor is both a privilege and a responsibility.
“It is an honour to be elected Mayor and have the opportunity to serve the Strathfield local government area. Our community is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family, and I am committed to working with my fellow councillors, Council staff and community to build on what makes our area special.”
“The decisions we make today will shape our community for years to come. I look forward to listening to our community, working collaboratively and ensuring Council remains focused on delivering positive outcomes for everyone who calls the Strathfield area home”, said Cr Reddy.
Newly elected Deputy Mayor, Councillor Kim said they were looking forward to working alongside the Mayor and Council to deliver meaningful outcomes for the community.
“It is a privilege to take on the role of Deputy Mayor and to serve our local community. Local government is about the things people see and experience every day. Our roads, parks, facilities, services, neighbourhoods and the places that bring our community together.”
“We have an important responsibility to make thoughtful decisions in our Chambers, identify opportunities for improvement and deliver projects that leave a lasting legacy”, said Cr Kim.
Council would like to thank the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Benjamin Cai, and outgoing Deputy Mayor, Cr Sandy Reddy for their dedicated service to the community.
