Hazardous waste such as chemicals, paint, solvents, pesticides and oils should never be emptied into your household waste bins, sinks or drains.
Strathfield Council supports the Office of Environment and Heritage Household Chemical CleanOut initiative – a free disposal service for a range of common household chemicals. CleanOut drop off centres operate in a variety of locations on specified dates.

Chemical Clean Out Day
Council hosts an EPA Chemical Cleanout Day once a year at the Strathfield Depot, 1 Weeroona St, Strathfield.
The next Chemical Clean Out Day is Sunday 11 November 2018.
You can take household quantities of the following household chemicals and items – up to a maximum of 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item.
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Floor care products
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Pool chemicals
- Hobby chemicals
- Acids and alkalis
- Motor fuels
- Fluorescent globes and tubes
- Smoke detectors
- Paint and paint-related products
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers
- Car and household batteries
- Motor oils and cooking oils
This Cleanup day is open to the wider local community and not limited to Strathfield Council residents only.
