Garbage Collection

General household garbage is collected once a week in your red lid household garbage bin. To find out your garbage collection day, click on the relevant directory on the right of this page.

Bin Presentation Guidelines

Place your bins out adjacent to the kerb on the night before your collection day.

Ensure that the bin handles are facing your property and that the bins are placed at least 50cm apart. If the bins are placed too close together the truck’s “arm” cannot collect them.

Place your bins at least 1m clear of adjacent trees or parked cars, as these can obstruct collection.

Do not overfill your bins. The lids must be completely shut and overfull bins or excessively heavy bins may not be emptied.

Place all materials inside the correct bin. Materials not inside the bin will not be collected and could attract a dumped rubbish fine.

Return your bins to your property as soon possible, once they have been emptied

Please ensure that all Council’s recycling and waste collection guidelines are followed. Failure to comply may result in bins not being collected or on the spot fines being issued, depending on the nature of the non-compliance. Council reserves the right to refuse collection of materials.

Bin Care

All of your bins have a serial number. Recording these numbers will assist in tracking your bins if they are lost or stolen. Council encourages you to take care of your bins so that you do not have to pay for replacements. Street number stickers are available from Council’s Customer Service Centre free of charge, or if you prefer, many hardware stores have similar stickers available for purchase. If your bin becomes damaged, lost or stolen, please contact Council’s Waste Hotline on 9748 9611.

Bins remain the property of Council at all times and must be left at the property if you move house. It is an offence to purposely damage, steal or remove Council property.

In multi unit dwellings, Strata Managers or the equivalent have a responsibility to ensure recycling and waste management is adequate, healthy and safe. Please contact Council’s Waste Hotline on 9748 9611 if Strata Management at your multi unit dwelling is not responding to requests for appropriate recycling and waste management.
