Strathfield Municipal Council

New Strathfield Comprehensive Local Environmental Plan

Council is currently developing a new Strathfield Comprehensive Local Environmental Plan (LEP).

The LEP will guide planning decisions and the strategic development of land in the Strathfield Local Government Area over the next 10 years. The process is being undertaken in consultation with the community, Department of Planning and other stakeholders. The Department of Planning require that the LEP be completed by March 2011.

The two major studies currently being undertaken that will inform the new LEP are:

  • Residential Land Use Study
  • Economic Land Use and Employment Study

In September 2009, two Public Information Session/Workshops were held for these studies. These consultations provided the community and stakeholders with opportunity to provide valuable input into the process. This information is being considered as part of the preparation of these studies

The recommendations from the Residential Land Use Study and Economic Land Use and Employment Study and other research will then guide the preparation of the Strathfield LEP.

It is expected that the draft LEP will be exhibited for public comment in mid 2010.  Following consideration by Council of the public submissions and any necessary amendments, the draft LEP will then be lodged with the Department of Planning for gazettal.
