About Centenary Playground
Centenary Playground is a neighbourhood park designed as an integral feature of the surrounding residential area, providing recreation opportunities and enhancement of local amenity and streetscape. The objective of this park is provision of safe play areas especially for children under surveillance of adults. This park features a dedicated children’s playground.
History
In 1985, Centenary Playground was opened to celebrate Council’s 100th anniversary of incorporation. The park is designed to provide open space for passive recreation and a children’s playground. The land was purchased from the Strathfield-Homebush Parish of the Uniting Church (later known as the West Sydney Chinese Church) and was a former tennis court. (Reference: Jones, C, Parks, Reserves & Memorials of Strathfield, 2004).
Park Management
Centenary Playground is managed under the Plan of Management for Neighbourhood Parks.
