Library FAQs

Where is the Library located?

The Strathfield Main Library is located at 65-67 Rochester Street Homebush 2140. The High Street Community Library is located at 64 High Street Strathfield.

When is Strathfield Library open?

The Main Library at Homebush is open Monday to Thursday 9.30am-8pm, Friday 9.30-6pm, Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm. 

Can I return books to Strathfield Library outside the library opening hours?

Yes. The both libraries have out of hours returns chute.

Can anyone join Strathfield Library?

If you live in the Strathfield Local Government Area (LGA) you are eligible. If you live outside the Strathfield LGA but are a member of your local public library you are eligible to join Strathfield Library. To join you must provide 2 forms of identification. Children under 18 must have parental or guardian authorisation to join.

Does it cost anything to join the library?

No, library membership is free. If you lose your card and require a replacement, there is a charge of $5.00.

Is there a charge for using the internet at the library?

No, internet usage at Strathfield Library is free. To access the internet you must register as an internet user with library staff.

Can I renew books online?

Currently our online catalogue (accessible on the internet from your home) does not support online transactions such as renewals or reservations. You can however check what items you currently have on loan and reservation and their due dates through the "borrower login" facility.

How many things can I borrow?

15 items can be borrowed for three weeks including two videos or DVDs for one week.

When is Storytime?

Pre-school Storytime is held every second Wednesday of every month at Main Library. These sessions for 0-5 year olds start at 10.30am and finish at 12 noon and include book readings, morning tea, films and craft.
