Works at Mason Park Wetlands

Council is due to commence the construction of a wetlands viewing platform at the Mason Park Wetlands, adjacent to the Powells Creek cycleway, on October 19.

Cycle way access will not be restricted during construction works.

Publishing Service of a Community Newspaper

Strathfield Council seeks to invite expressions of interest for the provision of publishing council and local news in a local newspaper called the Strathfield Scene, of which Council owns the intellectual property rights to. The publication’s intention is to keep the community informed of local news, including Council’s activities.

Strathfield Council is seeking expressions of interest for information purposes only. There is no obligation on either Strathfield Council or an interested party to enter into an agreement.

Strathfield Council may undertake a selective tender process following the Expression of Interest where invitations to tender for a proposed contract are made.

EOI documents are available from Strathfield Council’s electronic tender system. Completed submissions can be submitted via the electronic tender box on the same website. Submissions will be accepted until 5pm on 13 November 2009.

Works on Begnell Park Driveway

There will be restricted road access to Begnell Park via the Madeline Street Entry.

Improvement works have been programmed from Monday 12 October to Monday 19 October inclusive however this may vary according to weather conditions. Pedestrian access will still be available to the sports field.

Strathfield Council Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy

Council’s Councillors Expenses and Facilities Policy has been established in accordance with sections 252 and 253 of the Local Government Act 1993.  Council resolved at the August Council meeting to place the amended policy on public exhibition.

The policy is now on public exhibition until Thursday 15 October 2009 and may be viewed at Council’s Customer Service Centre and Libraries and is available on Council’s website at www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au.

Pesticide and herbicide usage within the Municipality

Strathfield Council advises that it will be applying pesticide at the following facilities and sports fields within the municipality throughout the month of November 2009.

Traps, baits and gelling will be used in internal areas to target vermin like rats and mice.

Pyrethrum is the main chemical constitute to be used externally. It is classed as a natural pesticide.

Strathfield Creek Pedestrian Bridge Works

Strathfield Council would like to inform the public of upcoming works within Ismay Reserve and Allen Street Reserve, Homebush.

Council is due to commence the construction of the Strathfield Creek Pedestrian Bridge in accordance with the Powells Creek Master Plan.

Works are currently underway and will span over several weeks. During this time, selected areas of the reserve will not be accessible.

Public Exhibition of Draft Social Plan 2009-2014

Council’s Draft Social Plan 2009-2014 has been prepared in accordance with the Local Government Act. Council resolved at an Extraordinary Council meeting held on 20 October to place the amended policy on public exhibition.

The policy is now on public exhibition until Thursday 19 November 2009 and may be viewed at Council’s Customer Service Centre and Libraries.  A copy can be viewed or downloaded from this page.
