Public Exhibition of Planning Proposals (Draft Local Environmental Plans)
Strathfield Council invites written submissions regarding the following Planning Proposals to amend the Strathfield Planning Scheme Ordinance:
• to rezone Lot 102 DP 1134585, 483 Liverpool Road from Special Uses 5(a) to Local Business 3(b) • to rezone Lots 1,2 & 3 DP 30405 Hillcrest Avenue and Lot 8 DP 30405 Coronation Parade from Special Uses 5(a) to Residential 2(a). The Planning Proposals have been prepared in accordance with the EP& A Act 1979 and Department of Planning Guidelines and are on public exhibition until Wednesday 9 December 2009. They may be viewed at Council’s Customer Service Centre and Strathfield Central Library. Copies of the Planning Proposals and relevant studies can be downloaded on the links below. Works at Mason Park Wetlands
Council is due to commence the construction of a wetlands
viewing platform at the Mason Park
Wetlands, adjacent to the Powells Creek cycleway, on October 19.

Publishing Service of a Community NewspaperStrathfield Council seeks to invite expressions of interest for the provision of publishing council and local news in a local newspaper called the Strathfield Scene, of which Council owns the intellectual property rights to. The publication’s intention is to keep the community informed of local news, including Council’s activities. Strathfield Council is seeking expressions of interest for information purposes only. There is no obligation on either Strathfield Council or an interested party to enter into an agreement. Strathfield Council may undertake a selective tender process following the Expression of Interest where invitations to tender for a proposed contract are made. EOI documents are available from Strathfield Council’s electronic tender system. Completed submissions can be submitted via the electronic tender box on the same website. Pesticide and herbicide usage within the MunicipalityStrathfield Council advises that it will be applying pesticide at the following facilities and sports fields within the municipality throughout the month of November 2009. 14 November 2009
Traps, baits and gelling will be used in internal areas to target vermin like rats and mice. Pyrethrum is the main chemical constitute to be used externally. It is classed as a natural pesticide. Strathfield Creek Pedestrian Bridge WorksStrathfield Council would like to inform the public of upcoming works within Ismay Reserve and Allen Street Reserve, Homebush. Council is due to commence the construction of the Strathfield Creek Pedestrian Bridge in accordance with the Powells Creek Master Plan. Works are currently underway and will span over several weeks. Public Exhibition of Draft Social Plan 2009-2014Council’s Draft Social Plan 2009-2014 has been prepared in accordance with the Local Government Act. Council resolved at an Extraordinary Council meeting held on 20 October to place the amended policy on public exhibition. The policy is now on public exhibition until Thursday 19 November 2009 and may be viewed at Council’s Customer Service Centre and Libraries. A copy can be viewed or downloaded from this page. Hire of Council Facilities 2010Strathfield Council invites applications from members of the public, including locally based groups and organisations, for the regular hire of the following Strathfield Council Venues in 2010:
An application form and information for use of these facilities can be obtained from Strathfield Council’s Customer Service Centre, located at 65 Homebush Road, Strathfield, or by clicking on the above links. Applications should be completed and returned to Council. All relevant additional documentation must be attached. Applications close 4.30pm Friday 4 December 2009. Financial Reports 2008-2009In accordance with Section 418 (3) of the Local Government Act, Strathfield Council advises that the Council Meeting to be held on 24 November 2009 will include the presentation of the audited Financial Reports and the Auditor’s Reports for the financial year ending 30 June 2009. In accordance with Section 420 of the Local Government Act 1993, any person may make a submission in writing to Council with respect to the Council’s Audited Financial Reports or the Auditor’s Reports. Copies of the audited Financial Reports and the Auditor’s Report may be inspected at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 65 Homebush Road Strathfield, Strathfield Main Library or viewed or downloaded from this page. Submissions close one week after the public meeting has been held.
