Strathfield Council has commenced construction of a new Community and Library Centre at Edwards Park.
This new centre will not only retain current branch library services, but will also expand the facilities located at Edwards Park by providing amenities that will allow residents in the south of Strathfield to participate in meetings, activities, classes and functions.
To minimise disruptions to branch library services during the construction stages of the new facility, the following arrangements have been organised:
- Weekly bus service to transport people to and from High Street and the Main Library in Homebush
- Monthly community bus service to the Main Library to pick up people from High Street on the first Wednesday of the month
- Branch Library users offered the opportunity to become temporary home library service clients where a personal profile is developed and resources delivered and collected from their homes at agreed times
- Branch library users given extended loan periods and increase in borrowing limits
- An outdoors return chute located at the High Street site
