Strathfield Library holds a significant collection of books and audiovisual material, specifically targeting those members of the community whose first language is other than English. The collection includes books, magazines, kits (books with tapes), audio cassettes, DVDs, videos, music CDs, computer programs and appropriate technology.

The Library’s collection contains materials from beginning literacy levels to fluency in English for adults, children with literacy difficulties and tutors and teachers.

This collection is shelved separately from the English language collection and contains adult fiction and non-fiction, junior fiction and non-fiction and picture books.

Strathfield Library primarily acquires collections in Chinese, Korean and Tamil, . Needs of small language groups not covered in the Library collection are met by use of the State Library’s Language Other than English (LOTE) collections and Inter-Library loans.

LOTE collections are held on the first floor of the Strathfield Main Library.

Translation Services
