Children’s material is aimed at children of ages 5 to 11 years and designed to provide a well-balanced collection to meet the varied needs of children.
The collection includes the widest range of interests, literary styles and educational support. Collections include non-fiction, fiction, picture books, audio visual, literacy, Languages other than English (LOTE) and reference.
Children’s materials are held at the Strathfield Main and Branch Libraries.
Picture books and novels are arranged on the shelves alphabetically by the author's surname and factual material is arranged on the shelves numerically using the Dewey Decimal Classification.
Young Adults Collection
Strathfield Library maintains a separate young adults collection to cater for the needs of youth in the Municipality. The collection includes fiction and non-fiction aimed at young people aged 12 to 17 years of age. Selection is based on current trends, popular materials and HSC support.
The books are arranged on the shelves alphabetically by the author's surname.
