Council meetings and Committee meetings are held regularly to discuss important local issues, projects and development applications. Business Papers (meeting agendas and reports) can be viewed on this site.
Members of the public are welcome to attend Council and Committee meetings.
Councillors are elected every four years. The Mayor is elected every year by the Councillors, usually in September.
The General Manager is appointed by the Council to manage the administration of the Council and in turn, the General Manager appoints staff within Council. Councillors and staff work to a Code of Conduct.
The Mayor of Strathfield Council is Cr Daniel Bott and the General Manager is David Backhouse.
Many Council initiatives and development applications are placed on public exhibition. Council encourages members of the public to provide comment and submissions for Council's consideration in the decision making process.
Council's Strathfield 2025 Community Strategic Plan sets the medium to long term goals for service provision and meeting community needs. Council's financial and annual reports, and fees and charges are public documents and provide information to the community on levels of funding required to support a broad range of services, facilities and maintenance of public assets.
