In a show of commitment to serve and represent the best interests of the community, all seven of Strathfield’s Councillors were officially sworn in at an Oath of Office ceremony on 16 October 2012.
The pledge reads:
"We, the elected Council of the Municipality of Strathfield, are honoured to serve the community of the Municipality of Strathfield and promise to fulfil our duties to the best of our ability. We are committed to open and accountable government and will act, at all times, in the interests of the community, without favour, and in accordance and with the respect of the law."
The 2012 Mayor of Strathfield Gulian Vaccari added that the occasion was an important one for all Councillors.
"Tonight, in taking this oath, we as a Council, make a commitment to the residents and people of Strathfield that we will work to serve their interests and to fulfill our duties as best we can.
"In taking this oath we also make a commitment to each other to work together as a group and to do so openly, honestly and in full respect of one another, Council staff, the community and the law."
