Strathfield Council develops, coordinates and evaluates the provision of accessible high quality services to meet the diverse needs of children, young people and their families within the Strathfield Local Government Area.
Some of the programs and activities for children and young people in Strathfield include:
School Holiday Programs
Every School Holiday period, Council offers programs for children and young people aged 5-12 years. The programs usually run for two weeks four times a year and offer activities such as sporting clinics, art & craft workshops, excursions, music and dance workshops and events.
Council is involved in organising a number of community events such as Children's Week, as well as participating in consultative forums such as the Families NSW interagency.

After School Craft Club
Strathfield Council is launching a new after school craft activities at High Street Community Library. Children aged 5 to 12 can join in weekly fun-filled activities to express their creativity.
Strathfield Council has 27 playgrounds located in parks and reserves throughout the Municipality. These playgrounds are designed for many different age groups, and each playground provides a different range of activities for its users. Improvements and maintenance aim to ensure that playgrounds meet a diverse range of current and future community needs including specific age groups and people with disabilities.
Library Activities for Children
Strathfield Library also offers:
- a large range of literature to encourage early readers
- an exciting holiday program filled with craft, stories, films, cookery and more
- a Summer Readathon held annually from November 1 until January 31
- Book Week activities involving local schools and pre-schools.
Go4Fun is a healthy program for children aged 7-13 and are above a healthy weight.
Strathfield Youth Film Project
A council initiative working with local students to create videos from Council events. To view the videos visit our YouTube channel. Many schools were involved in this project and captured some excellent footage from a range of Council events.
